Governor Valcho Cholakov had a meeting with the ship commanders of the Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2 in the Mediterranean (SNMCMG 2). The Group includes Bulgarian mine-sweeper ship “Shkwal”, Turkish management and control ship TCG „C.G.HASANPASA” and mine-hunting ship TCG „EDREMIT”, Spanish mine-hunting ship and ESPS „TAMBRE” and Romanian mine-sweeper ship „AXENTE”. The occasion of the visit is Bulgarian – Romanian anti-mine training “Poseidon 2016” held from 20 till 27 February 2016 in Burgas. Host of the event are Bulgarian Naval Forces and its aim is improvement of the crews’ interaction.
The training has been planned and will be managed according to the NATO standards and procedures. It is being conducted in territorial sea and the adjoining zone of Republic of Bulgaria in duly announced ranges.
Poseidon 2016 is aiming to improve the training level of the Naval Forces’ staff in planning and conducting anti-mine actions in coalition format.
