Burgas Regional Administration is preparing projects for minimizing the risk of floods

Burgas Regional Administration is preparing two projects in the framework of the new CBC Program Bulgaria – Turkey 2014-2020 related to flood prevention. The draft proposals correspond to the priorities announced by Governor Valcho Cholakov for minimizing risks of nature disasters of that type.

The first project in preparing is with the partner Uzunkopru Region and aims flood prevention. The project ‘s purposes are small investments and purchase of specialized equipment  for preventing floods in the cross-border region. Experts from both border sides stake on 24 months duration and a value of approx. 600 000 Euro. The Governor of Uzunkopru Kemal Ipdiz and Deputy Governor of Burgas region Vladimir Krumov affixed their signatures to the common work on this project during a Partnership forum a couple of days ago in Edirne.

The second project’s aim is capacity improvement for nature protection, sustainable usage and management of natural resources through common initiatives of cooperation in the cross-border region.  This time Burgas region is a partner of Directorate General for Nature and National Parks Protection – Istanbul. In case of project’s approval it’s duration will be 24 months in the value of 400 000 Euro. The project proposal aims to improve the sitiation with the Burgas lake Vaya waters, which is a protected area in the framework of the European Ecological System NATURA 2000. This will contribute to the protection of wild birds, natural habitats, flora and fauna in the cross-border region.
