According to the information of Burgas Basin Directorate the situation of rivers and dams in the region is normal at this moment. There is no water level raising reported. drinking water-supply dams have free volumes as follows: Kamchia – 20 %, Yasna poliana – 40 % and Novo Panicharevo – 70 %. These dams have no preconditions for giving raise of states of emergency and no critical level raising is expected.
The Black Sea Branch of Irrigation Networks Ltd. Manages 9 dams in the area of Burgas region – Poroy, Aheloy, Troyanovo, Krushevo, Tserkovski, Skala 1, Skala 2, Bargan. All of them have free volumes ranging from 70 to 40 %.
Rainfalls in the region during the last twenty-four-hour period come to 10-15 l/m2. According to the forecast of the National Meteorology and Hydrology Institute today are expected rainfalls between 15 and 20 l/m2.
We remind you that a commission is inspecting water sites all over the year on the order of Governor Valcho Cholakov. During the inspections experts gave instructions for dams which are managed by municipalities, irrigation systems and private persons. These must keep in dams sufficient free water volume which should not exceed 2/3 of the total volume in winter and during the high water period in spring. In situation of heavy rainfalls immediate water discharging should be undertaken and continuous observation should be ensured. The instructions of the commission include also cleaning the walls and spillways of the dams by removing vegetation, repair works as well as analysis of the technical condition of the large dams.
In the summer of 2015 the most critical sections were partially cleansed with the help of temporary imprisoned people. Burgas Regional Administration is expecting funds from the Disasters and Damages Joint Committee in order to undertake a cleansing on a more large scale. In the same time the team of the Governor is seeking possibilities for financing on the Operational programs.
