Preventive measures against spreading of brucellosis taken in Burgas region

Preventive measures against spreading of the disease brucellosis discussed today the institutions in charge. Representatives of the Food Safety Agency, Regional Police Directorate, Border Police Department and Automobile Administration attended the meeting. Their common actions aim at minimizing the risk of arising  of the disease and its consequences in the region.

On the opinion of the experts the main reason for arising and spreading of the disease is a not regulated animal transportation. Brucellosis foci are registered in the regions of Kyustendil and Pleven.

At this stage no cases of the disease are found in Burgas region. According to the measures introduced during the meeting today the animals in the region have to be moved from one municipality to another after veterinarian examination and  in the presence of necessary sertificates, passes etc. for ruminant neat. Institution are starting joined inspections and they will check up besides all documents needed also the obligatory ear stamping of the cattle. In case of rules’ violation administrative sanctions will be used.

The disease can be transmitted to people through contact with sick animals and consumption of not processed animal products, mostly of infected meat and milk. When these products have been good thermal processed and under observance of personal hygiene they are not dangerous for peoples’ health.
