The participants in the Koprivshtitsa Fair came back with many awards and insignia of honour

The individual and collective performers of Burgas region came back with many awards and certificates from the 11th National Fair of Bulgarian Folklore wich was held on 7 – 9 August 2015 in Koprivshtitsa. A professional jury from the Bulgarian Academy of Science attended the representative programme of the Region and nominated the best performances. The prizes were awarded for complete and excellent performance. All participants received sertificates of special achievments in preservation of authentic Bulgarian folklore.

The Authentic Folklore Group of Community centre “Prosveta 1906” – Kozichino village, Pomorie municipality, which is included in the regional intangible cultural heritage list of Burgas region and the singer Toni Vladimirova from Burgas were elected to participate in the Fair opening concert.

The representatives of Burgas region performed ritual customs, offered musical performances, folk songs and dances typical of the folklore in Strandja and East Trakiya. The traditional customs “Celebrating the Day of Enyo”, “Celebrating Lazar-Day in Erkech”, “Choral accompaniment of swaphooks”, “Mummer on the first Sunday before Lent” were part of the Burgas region’s performances. All 350 participants had on beautiful authentic peasant dresses woven by their mothers and grandmothers.

Governor Valcho Cholakov expressed his gratitude to all community centres in the region which took part in the fair for the insignia of honour received.
