The Regional Minister presented in Burgas information about inspections of beaches

The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Lilyana Pavlova presented for the first time detailed results of further inspections of performance of the contracts for hiring out the beaches or providing them under concession at a common press conference today with the Mayor of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov and Deputy Governor Vladimir Krumov. She reminded that 114 of total 209 beaches on the Bulgarian Blacksea coast are under management. 21 of them are managed by Regional Administration in Burgas, Varna and Dobrich; two beaches are managed by Municipalities and the rest is hired out or provided under concession by the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works. 95 of the coastal areas are not safeguarded or partially safeguarded.

The additional inspections of contracts’ performance are initiated by Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works together with Regional Health Inspectorates and Executive Agency “Maritime Administration”, Mrs. Pavlova commented. She informed that repeated inspections also ascertained lack of sufficient number of safeguards at a big part of beaches. The inspectors found that problems in the medical care of 11 beaches are continuing.

The third inspection should ascertain if the beaches have at least 50 % free areas equivalent to the space which is occupied with umbrellas and chaise-longues, Pavlova said and added that a geodetic surveying is done for that purpose which includes also the area of the movable objects. 22 beaches have not the required 50 % free area. The beaches Chervenka, Pomorie Bunata, Byala Tsentralen and Sunny beach have the worst indicators among all of them.
