The Governor and the Mayor required Schengen for our blue borders

The Governor and the Mayor required Schengen for our blue borders

During a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva Governor Valcho Cholakov and Mayor Dimitar Nikolov discussed the possibility for Bulgaria to require Schengen for our borders on water and air.

“Let’s start Schengen “blue borders”, we have three seaports with a perfect organization and a qualified personnel”, commented Nikolov.

“The sea brings immense resources. Schengen “blue borders ” will awaken business. It is also important to open the frontline to Turkey at Malko Tarnovo for trucks, now it is for tourists only, but for this to happen money is needed”, Cholakov added.

The Deputy Prime Minister committed herself to visit as soon as possible all “blue borders” and then to initiate a correspondence with the present Presidency of the EU and the next two, in order to motivate the request of Bulgaria.

At the meeting the fortcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018 has been also discussed. As our priorities Kuneva determined protection of the sea frontline, transport, aquacultures and the resources given by the sea. The Chairmen of the Regional policy, public works and local self-government Nayden Zelenogorsky took also part in the discussion.
