Dear residents and guests of Burgas region, dear friends, congratulations on one of the most beloved feasts 1st of March known also as Baba Marta. In the Bulgarian tradition this day is a symbol of spring, of new agriculture year, of fertility, blessing and welfare. The custom requires that we decorate ourselves and each other with Martenitsa – twisted white and red knitting wool or sewing-cotton. The colours have a definite meaning – white colour represents cleanness, new beginning, happiness and red colour personifies life, fertility, energy. They say that Martenitsa given away to us by relatives and close friends with all their heart brings luck. I wish you many such Martenitsa which shall bring to you the feeling of joy, unity and mutuality. I wish you good health, luck and welfare. Let the feast brings to us more faith in the better and successful forthcoming days.
