Deputy Governor Vladimir Krumov visited an exhibition dedicated to free Burgas

Deputy Governor Vladimir Krumov visited an exhibition dedicated to free Burgas

Deputy Governor Vladimir Krumov was a guest at the official opening of the exhibition “Lermontovs – Liberators and Creators” held in the eve of the 137th Anniversary of the Liberation of Burgas from the Ottoman rule. The exhibition has been opened in the lobby of the Army Club in Burgas as a result of the partnership of many years between the Burgas Regional Museum of History and the hosts from the club.

The exhibition presents in pictures, text and armaments historical personalities and moments important for Burgas related to the Liberation. Especially impressive for the visitors are five war flags sent by the National Museum of Military History in Sofia among which stand out precise replicas of the Samara flag and the flag of Stilyana Paraskevova that is considered to be the prototype of the Bulgarian national flag.

The history of the Lermontovs’ family is of interest to the people of Burgas. It is well-known to the general society mostly for the life and creative work of the Russian classicist Mihail Y. Lermontov. Colonel Aleksandar Mihailovich Lermontov is the Liberator of Burgas and after the war he has been promoted to the rank of general. His daughter Aleusandra Lermontova arrived in Burgas with the 4th Armycorps of General Skobelev and here she supported the training of medical personnel and the founding of the first hospital in Burgas.

In several show cases are presented weapons of collectors from armaments of the time of the Russian-Turkish Liberation Wars. The exhibition is open for visitors on 6th  February till 4 p.m., in the weekend 7th-8th February from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. and on Monday 9th February from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m.
