The responsible institutions carry out a broad popular persuasive campaign among the owners of poultry-breeding farms and farmyards regarding the strict measures they have to take to prevent bird influenza dissemination. This has been made clear during the meeting of the Regional epizootic commission today. Some of the most important actions which have been watched closely by the institutions are as follows: observance of the explicit prohibition against birds leaving out of yards, bird food preservation in a sheltered place and restricted access of wild birds to poultry and vice versa. A part of the preventive measures the institutions are taking is also the enlargement of monitoring zones from 3 to 10 km by putting into use a buffer zone which includes the municipalities of Burgas, Sozopol, Sredets and Kameno. In these areas movement and transportation of birds and fowling as well are absolutely prohibited. There is no need to raise panic among the population. It is necessary to observe all preventing measures, to maintain good hygiene and the most important – in case of the minimal doubt about an ill bird the veterinarian stations should be informed.
