Cleaning of the channel started which connects Vaya Lake with Black Sea in the area of the Northern Industrial Zone of Burgas. This measure has been undertaken after warnings by workshop and storehouse owners last week to the Governor that their premises have consistently been floated.
Mr. Cholakov visited the state property together with the commission of experts of Regional Administration, Burgas Municipality, Fire Department, Basin Directorate and Regional Environment and Water Protection Inspectorate. The inspection found out that almost the total channel lenght has been overgrown by marsh vegetation and needs urgent cleansing measures to ensure a normal capacity. A special cleansing technique for water catching equipment and channels is used provided by “Black Sea Salt Works”.
The common actions of state institutions, Burgas Municipality and cooperation of “Black Sea Salt Works” Plc. led to the problem solution. “Immediate measures are not a final solution. Our efforts with Burgas Municipality at present time are to prevent next floods in this area. Once the water level in the channel has subsided we will undertake more drastic measures for its complete cleaning which will solve the problem for a long time.” – Mr Cholakov assured.
